Marco! Polo! Marco Polo was a cool guy. I mean, he had a game named after him. I really don't understand why he is used in Marco Polo and not someone like me, but I guess that is just life. I don't know why everyone was so harsh on him that he didn't go to China. Who cares if he did or not? Also, the only evidence they have that he didn't was that he didn't write too much about it in his book. He probably had cooler things to write in there besides China anyhow.
Venice was a smart place. Finally a nation decides to take advantage of land that has some good old salt on it to make some money. I don't think that countries should be able to monopolize like that. It is kind of like what China is doing now. It is a smart thing to do, but it really isn't fair to other countries. Maybe the United Kingdom should look into that some.
The invention of making salt ponds was pretty cool I guess. I think it is very childish that the Chinese wouldn't accept the fact that they invented it first. Who cares if they are known for their perfect little crystals of salt. At least they invented something! It was something that changed history too. Oh well, the Chinese invented everything so it is good for someone to get credit for something they did.

Marco went to China, but the stories he came back with were believed to be very far fetched.
You compare Venice to China, creating a monopoly, but I'm not sure I follow you? How is China a monopoly? Maybe you can explain that to me sometime in homeroom?
I guess it is a matter of national pride sometimes for a country to claim something first? As you say, it is quite childish I suppose.
